Founding Field Engineering Lead

As a founding field engineering lead, you will own the full post-sales customer success process, from the development of PoCs to the production deployments of Nextdata OS in customer environments.

The company

The future of data lies in decentralization, and the concept of a data mesh is the proven approach for implementing this at Enterprise scale. We’re here to make it a reality. Nextdata OS is a data-mesh-native platform built to meet the challenge of decentralizing data at scale. We are inventing a new way for developers to work with data and share it responsibly via data product containers.

Our vision is to build a world where AI/ML and analytics are powered by decentralized, responsible, and equitable data ownership, across boundaries of organizations, technology, and most importantly boundaries of trust.

Our purpose is to change the experience of creating, sharing, discovering, and using data forever, to be connected, fast, and fair based on data mesh principles.

Our technology is designed to empower data developers, users and owners with a delightful experience where data products are a first-class primitive, with trust built-in.

We are here to accept the reality that the world of data is complex and messy; data models are out-of-date the moment they are created; data is owned across trust boundaries; data is stored on different platforms; data is used in many different modes and most importantly data can't protect itself. We recognize that past approaches to tackle these complexities with centralized data collection, modeling and governance are ineffective at best and pathologically unfair at worst. Our mission is to reimagine the world of data with you.

The role

As a founding field engineering lead, you will own the full post-sales customer success process, from the development of PoCs to the production deployments of Nextdata OS in customer environments. You will collaborate with all levels of stakeholders within the customer organization to define clear success criteria for PoCs and production deployments. You will lead a team of engineers and drive the design, build, and deployment of customers’ domain-specific data products and custom analytics/ML applications using those data products to successfully realize the power of autonomous data products in Nextdata OS.

  • You will work closely with the sales counterparts and engage early in the sales process to understand our customers' needs, their businesses, and how they define success, ensuring that we exceed expectations in delivery and the value of the solutions we develop.
  • Consult with and run workshops with customers to understand the scope of engagement, requirements, time, cost, and benefits. You will be responsible for estimating, scoping, and developing the statement-of-work documents.
  • Resolve delivery challenges, address resource contentions, scoping issues, and manage expectations.
  • Leverage your deep understanding and passion for our product to communicate its value to customers and system Integrators.
  • Partner with your product counterparts to both develop and inform a deep understanding of features, roadmaps, and gaps.
  • Always be looking for new opportunities, as you will be asked to go after new parts of customer organizations and grow existing accounts.

  • 7+ years running a Professional Services and Training Services line of business with a focus on data enablement solutions.
  • 7+ years in customer-facing roles that require a mix of influencing, validating, handling negotiations, understanding, and execution.
