Our Company
A week in Tiburon: Prototyping, debating, winning together
Our annual face-to-face meetup took us to Tiburon, California, where for a full week the entire company worked, argued, laughed, and built side by side. In a remote-first culture operating across 4 continents and 10 time zones, these in-person days are essential to building the kind of company we want to be part of. They remind us of the extraordinary group we’ve assembled and our shared commitment to radically changing how the value of data is realized. It’s profound to see the same ideas sketched on the same whiteboard, to be part of a debate that continues over dinner, when the lines between product strategy and personal story disappear in conversation.

This meeting was not only a chance to connect, but also a chance to accelerate key features and put Nextdata OS to work on real-world AI use cases. Working side by side we’re able to learn from each other in real time and contribute to a shared project.
The team
The magic of Tiburon wasn’t just in code—it was in the moments together and in between. In-person gives us a chance to meet the people behind the screens, codes and comments and understand the amazing talent and diversity that are working together towards. And on our off day, we took a field trip to Golden Gate Park together—for a day of field games and fun.
In a remote-first world, these meetups are not a distraction—they’re investments in our shared narrative, culture, and creativity. To mark this special moment in Nextdata history, we also recorded these team interviews about why we’re all part of building this transformative system.
The work
We used the opportunity of being together to dive into building AI use cases and exercising Model Context Protocol (MCP) support in Nextdata OS. Starting with sticky notes, by the end of the week we had working code that demonstrated:
- Agent-native discovery—helping AI agents intuitively find the correct data products with rich, domain-aware context.
- MCP-enabled APIs—exposing product lineage, quality, and policy directly to agents in real time.
- Live demos that show how autonomous data products power faster, safer AI workflows.
What truly surprised us—and delighted us—was how quickly ideas turned into working prototypes. Three days of face-to-face collaboration turned out to be equivalent to weeks of virtual sprinting.
Taking the momentum home
We returned from Tiburon with energized minds, clearer alignment, and renewed connections. The hackathon prototypes are already influencing our product roadmap, and the trust we deepened in person continues to flow through our remote work—making every team interaction faster, warmer, more intuitive.
Here’s to many more face-to-face moments—and the sparks they ignite.
About Tiburon, California
Tiburon sits on a quiet peninsula along the San Francisco Bay, framed by sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Angel Island, and the city skyline. Known for its harbor-front cafés, winding trails, and slow rhythms, it’s a place where focus comes naturally. For our team, Tiburon offered the perfect backdrop for a week of prototyping, debating, and building together — where ideas stretched beyond whiteboards and conversations and debates threaded throughout the week.
